“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
— Luke 4:18-19
Good news to the poor. Jesus chose to quote these first words as His mandate, a revolution to change the world. We have taken this to heart, and it has shaped our dreams.
As a church we are on a journey with Jesus…
To be a redemptive community sharing the love of Christ in the world by word, sign and deed; helping people become lifelong followers of Jesus.
As we grow redemptive communities and help people become lifelong followers of Jesus we hope being relational, holistic and transformational infuses everything we do.
Love of Christ. Jesus reveals a God of love; a Father who loves the Son in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, and we are made for relationship. The love of Christ restores our relationship with God, with our self, with one another, and with the world God so loves.
Word, Sign and Deed. Jesus shared his love by word, sign and deed. He unpacked scripture, walked in the power of the Holy Spirit, and rolled up his sleeves in positive action. He held truth and power with compassion.
In the world. Jesus was present in the world. Grounded in the gritty reality, we see tangible transformation from the inside out and bottom up through His life, death and resurrection.
The shape of our church reflects this relational, holistic, transformational presence.
