Gatherings Leader
We are seeking expressions of interest for the role of Gatherings Leader, to join our church leadership team in early 2022. This person will lead our Gatherings Team to create engaging and inspiring gatherings (church services) and festivals that encourage people to glorify and serve God, journey further in following Jesus and form and nurture vibrant redemptive communities. You’ll be a team player who empowers others, weaving together our gathered and presence-based life, artists, creatives and preachers. You’ll have the ability to ensure our gatherings continue to grow and contribute towards our vision of redemptive communities and lifelong followers, by way of creativity and innovation.

As a member of our Leadership Team, you’ll be part of shaping our church culture, consistent with our values of loving God, self, each other and the world and our missional bias to the poor and marginalised. You’ll also be an excellent communicator, able to role model and convey our vision, our strategic direction, priorities and mission focuses.

Experience leading creative teams is essential. As is a strong commitment to Te Tiriti partnership journey and to living out the SWBC vision of being a presence-based church.

Finance Manager
Are you looking for a part-time accounting role with flexible hours, in which you can contribute to the outworking of our South West Baptist Church vision behind the scenes in a very practical way?

Following the resignation of our Finance Manager, we have a vacancy for a professional accountant who has excellent organisational skills, and can understand the “big picture”, as well as having good attention to detail.

This role provides key support to our Executive Pastor and Leadership Team in matters relating to financial reporting.

You will be responsible for providing financial expertise to implement and maintain accurate and efficient systems to cover all areas of the church finances, including monthly reporting, payroll, year-end reporting, budgets and forecasts. You will also work with our external accountant, and liaise with external financial entities, to ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards.

The successful applicant will be a team player, have proficiency using Xero (or equivalent) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), have excellent spreadsheeting skills and be able to adapt to a changing environment.  Experience in accounting for a multi-department organisation essential and experience in the charities sector is preferable.

Keep Active Co-ordinator
We are taking applications for a permanent part-time position (paid and/or voluntary) with flexible hours outside scheduled programmes.

Ian and Irene Oxley are retiring from leadership of the Keep Active ministry they founded 12 years’ ago. This is an opportunity to step in and lead a well-established and successful community outreach ministry.

Keep Active is a circuit exercise programme in a fun, social setting for anyone to help maintain or improve their fitness. It has wide appeal especially to seniors, and also provides a special session for those with disabilities.

Keep Active is dedicated to supporting the SWBC vision through a holistic approach to physical wellbeing, including acknowledgement of wider social and spiritual needs.

This is a hands-on role that includes personal delivery of fitness programmes (term time) as lead instructor, leadership of a team of valued volunteer instructors and helpers, facilitation of pastoral care for participants and partnering with church and community contacts.

Pre School Programme Co-ordinator
Do you love preschoolers? Are you the one dancing to the Wiggles in your free time? Or reading through The Hungry Caterpillar? We want you to come and join our team!

Our Children’s team are looking for a Preschool Programme Co-ordinator, someone who really cares about tamariki under 5. This role is for up to seven hours a week, and involves co-ordinating on Sunday mornings and during the week. You’ll be involved in creating and delivering quality programmes, supporting and developing our awesome volunteers in their competency and faith, communication with parents and contributing to our wider Children’s team. Paid Casual Relief Receptionist
We are looking for a paid Casual Relief Receptionist who can fill in for times of sickness and annual leave.

The role requires someone to; bring a warm, friendly personality to brighten our front office and create a welcoming experience for visitors to our site and incoming callers ranging from employees to members in of our community.

There are no set hours and generally with times of sickness this would be a last-minute on-call role. In times of annual leave these are planned ahead so notice will be given for this.
Days and times will vary being a casual position but will be between Monday – Thursday and during the hours of 9.00am – 1.00pm.

24-7 Youth Worker
We are currently seeking to fulfil a 10 hour 24-7 Youth Worker position in Middleton Grange School. This role could include anything from mentoring, leadership development, camps, sports coaching and more.

There is also the potential of another 10 hour position in Aidanfield Christian School.

The Living Room
The Living Room are looking for volunteers for a variety of tasks on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings. If you have barista skills, these will be warmly welcomed! Contact Sharon to find out more.


Van Drivers
Tuesday Christian Fellowship are looking for two van drivers for the Hoon Hay/Spreydon/Barrington route please. This would involve a fortnightly or monthly commitment. If you would like to consider this then please email Andy at acarpenter@swbc.org.nz. Thank you!

We are currently looking for groups or individual volunteers to help with packing away the chairs in our Lyttelton St site Gym after our Sunday morning gathering. Get in touch with Sandy if you could help.
