SWBC Kura1 Reo

A Maori language class has been running at SWBC since 2011.  The class meets every Monday evening from 6.00pm – 7.30pm and is held in the Cobham St Hall.

The format follows the tikanga of hui and karakia

1. Mihi/whakatau (greeting and welcome)
2. Karakia timatatanga (opening prayer)
3. Waiata (opening song)
4. Karakia mo te kai (blessing of the food)
5. Kai (shared food – whatever one is able to bring or not)
6. Mahi (i a matou e kai ana ka mahi tonu)… while we eat!

f) he korero: nga patai me nga whakautu

iv. he aha mā wai (he hupa māu?)

g) karanga me te whaikorero
