September 17 & 24

Kia ora and welcome,

I’m writing this in an airport. People arriving into the arms of excited family and others in work mode, oblivious to everything around them but their phone and their lack of time. Fascinating! So many different stories and stresses. I’ve been teaching a course on Spirituality – in essence our personal awareness of God’s love for us and through us to others. It intriuges me how different we all are; how uniquely God interacts with each one of us and calls us into different places and with different people. God’s kingdom coming! We are all a part of it.

It was great to focus on God’s kingdom globally last Sunday, realising our church is very much a part of this. I outlined our global mission finances at the gatherings and have put the same information up on my blog.

There’s lots going on for us throughout the remainder of the month. Dr Jayakumar Christian is speaking at our gatherings on Sunday September 17, SYC Quiz Night is happening on Friday September 22 and then we’re hosting the Neufeld Conference September 25 – 29.

Thank you to all those who have responded to our local church giving concerns. July was a good month of giving for the local needs of the church. While we are still a little behind budget for the year, your response last month was superb and hugely appreciated.

Back at the airport, my flight has been delayed. More time to watch people and wonder at the way our God interacts with us all so uniquely, so personally and so differently. Our loving God is one beyond measure and description.

May God’s love and personal call in your life be felt deeply this week.

We’re coming to the end of Global Week – check out our final events. Making sense of our kids with Dr. Gordon Neufeld from September 25 – 29. Purchase your tickets here. Chris Heuertz is visiting us from America to run this Enneagram Workshop – sign up today!

If you are, we would like to invite you for lunch in The Living Room on Sunday October 1 at 1.15pm. This will be a great time to network with fellow educators who are part of our church. Please email wread@swbc.org.nz if you wish to attend. If you could mention the position that you hold that would be helpful.Mercy Basket – Thank you so much for the way you have supported us in being able to provide these parcels. We continue to be stretched at the number we can provide and would appreciate your further support in donating either financially or with some of the following items: long-life milk, cereals, canned tuna, peas, corn, peanut butter and muesli bars. Thank you, Sheryl.
